    When a tsunami hits, it may come ashore like a fast rising flood and strike with devastating force. The series of waves may continue for hours. Sometimes the first one may not be the last or the largest. Potential warning signs of an incoming tsunami include a strong earthquake that causes difficulty standing, a rapid rise or fall of the water along the coast, and a loud ocean roar. This disturbance causes a transfer of energy from the seafloor to the ocean, which generated a series of ocean waves known as a tsunami.     In a tsunami, devastation is created by far more than the wave itself. Debris that hits homes and other structures plays a huge role in a tsunami’s destructive power. But until now, engineers could only estimate the forces at work when debris, such as a floating telephone pole, hits a house. With support from the National Science Foundation, engineers from across the country have teamed up to design and carry out a series of large-scale tests aimed at better understanding exactly what happens when debris strikes.     Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, Moko is enjoying the seashore on the beach when Mei-Lei comes to get him to go fishing. They sail out into the sea and in the distance Moko sees what looks like a hill. Mei-Lei tells him that is actually a giant wave! All of a sudden, the tsunami lifts their boat high into the air and propels it forward. The wave crashes down and drops their boat right at the entrance to the village. Moko believes that they were kept safe because he knew to trust the ocean.
