K-12 teachers attend a summer institute in physics education to learn the "guided inquiry" method of teaching physics. They learn inquiry skills by working through problems and experiments, questioning each other's rationales, and modeling the instructors' method of asking questions that "correct reasoning." The institute's purpose is not only to change the way physics is taught, but also to clarify teachers' understanding of basic physics principles.

Many interpreters, teachers, and students are unfamiliar with specialized sign vocabulary because the concepts occur infrequently in daily communication. In this video a Deaf professional signs vocabulary related to his field of expertise. The signs being demonstrated are commonly accepted by the Deaf community, but may not be the only sign for a specific word. Signs often vary across the country, so viewers are encouraged to confirm that signs used in this video are those used in their area/region of the country. While her love of inventing and problem-solving provided an architectural roadmap for her future, it was the encouragement and guidance of the teachers who recognized her special talents that put her life on a trajectory that would land her at NASA. For interns at the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, hands-on experience means feeding octopi and shark by hand. They also journey to Apalachee Bay to collect sea critters to be used by teachers and researchers across the country. Their internship duties also include the many tasks they perform at the lab, from sea turtle rescue to leading tours. Teachers often say to students, “Put your thinking caps on,” and one day, students might just do that for real. Vanderbilt University psychologist Geoffrey Woodman says that’s because scientists are being equipped with more and more tools they can use to better understand the brain, and now, they can even eavesdrop on individual neurons. Initial support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) allowed Woodman and his team at the Vanderbilt University Visual Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory to study memory and perception. Then, the researchers tested their theory that electrical stimulation of the medial frontal cortex can boost learning and improve decision-making.
