Tornadoes claim hundreds of lives and cause billions of dollars in damages in the United States. With support from the National Science Foundation, computer scientist Amy McGovern at the University of Oklahoma is working to find answers to key questions about tornado formation. While video from storm chasers and data from Doppler radar can help meteorologists understand some aspects of tornadoes, McGovern uses supercomputers to find patterns in very large datasets. She also works with weather experts to help her sort out the information in the simulations. McGovern’s ultimate goal is to come up with reliable tornado forecasting system.

Dinosaur expert, Tyler Lyson discovered a mummified fossil of a duckbilled dinosaur. The mummy was carefully excavated and transported to a laboratory for a CT Scan. Researchers are hoping the 8,000 pound fossil will offer up a complete picture of dinosaurs that used to roam in North Dakota. Segment of video from Wild Chronicles Series.

Just beyond the village Moko sees a vast plain that has been flooded with water. He thinks this must have been the great wave, flooding the field with water so that the rice would grow. This is when Mei-Lei picks up a magnificent seashell and Moko believes that it must surely be a gift from the ocean. Moko and Mei-Lei make their way back home, carrying their gift and happy to have seen wonderful new places. They are certain that the ocean must know an underground passage in which it sends waves every now and then to feed the rivers and the fields.

To celebrate the founding of Walkerville, Ms. Frizzle's class sculpts a stone likeness of its founding father, Captain Walker. But as they add the finishing touches, the statue tumbles down the mountain. Ms. Frizzle turns the bus into a giant boulder and the kids into rock kids. They bump down the mountain in a desperate attempt to save the statue. By the time they reach the celebration at the base of the mountain, they've been pushed, tossed, sanded, polished, and eroded by water.
