Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, Moko tells himself that it is time to leave Mei-Lei's land and he gets his raft ready. A man tells him that he must take the route of the great plains to continue his journey. As he walks a great gust of wind makes him fall and drop his precious stone. Seeing it on the ground, Moko thinks of Mei-Li and tells himself he must go on for those he has left behind. Moko's heart lightens as he thinks that one day his travels will bring him back to those he loves.

The Earth has many land formations such as mountains, plateaus, hills, and plains. These formations are created by movement of the earth’s plates, volcanoes, weather, and erosion. Part of the Real World Science series.
Host Dylan Dreyer ventures to the heart of Africa for a spectacle few humans have ever seen. She captures footage of the great herds of Africa as they travel more than 500 miles across the Serengeti plains. Part of the "Journey With Dylan Dreyer" series.
Earth's landscape has a wide variety of physical features referred to as landforms. Characteristics of the major landforms are illustrated with footage from North America, including the Grand Canyon, Interior Plains, and the Rocky Mountains. Important terminology includes plain, relief, interior plain, coastal plain, plateau, mountain, hill, valley, canyon, beach, dune, sea cliff, sea stack, ocean, lake, bay, river, and creek.
James Woodenlegs first learned to communicate using Plains Indians Sign Language from his family, growing up on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana. Also known as “hand talk,” the language has been used by both deaf and hearing Indians from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico for at least 200 years, possibly much longer. Woodenlegs is working with sign language scholars Jeffrey Davis and Melanie McKay-Cody to document and preserve hand talk, one of thousands of the world’s endangered languages.
The geology of the Great Plains is a product of long periods of sedimentary buildup followed by equally long periods of erosion. The result today is a dramatic landscape of bluffs, pinnacles and badlands that contain the rich story, of ancient sea creatures, dinosaurs and long extinct, giant land mammals. The Agate Fossil Beds is a landscape that reflects many influences from early animals roaming the valleys and hills to tribal nations they call the High Plains home. Explorers passing through or settling the American West also have a part in the story.
Capulin Volcano National Monument was born of fire and forces continually reshaping its surface. It’s a dramatic landscape of mountains, plains, and sky and provides access to some of nature’s most awe-inspiring work in New Mexico.
While asleep, a young girl dreams that her computer teaches her about earth's geographic areas. Uses a globe to tell about areas of water (oceans, lakes, and rivers), land (mountains, forests, canyons, deserts, plains, and poles), and climates (cold, tropic, and moderate). Emphasizes that all areas and features of earth support life.
The Very Large Array, or VLA, is a complex of 27 massive antennas on the Plains of San Agustin in central New Mexico, all pointing skyward to monitor radio emissions from the cosmos. With support from the National Science Foundation, astronomers use this facility to observe the most dynamic, cataclysmic events in the universe. Part of the "Science Nation" series.
When Genoveva opens her magic book, the screen is filled with feathers, beaks, horns, legs, wings, and snouts. Genoveva's magic book transports her to various habitats where she learns about the animals that live there. In this episode, Genoveva visits with the rhea. The rhea has a round body covered with feathers, long neck and big eyes. Genoveva visits the plains to find out why the rhea does not use its wings to fly.
The Coastal Plains Institute has teamed with governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and local children to reintroduce the striped newt to the Munson Sandhills region of the Apalachicola National Forest. After an extended drought, striped newts disappeared from the forest. During a recent exploration of the forest, a group of citizen scientists discovered the newts are making a comeback. Part of the "EcoAdventures in North Florida" series.
In this episode, host Steve Backshall conducts an investigation into what makes the Okavango such a diverse place. The Okavango Delta is a vast inland river delta in northern Botswana. It's known for its sprawling grassy plains, which flood seasonally, becoming a lush animal habitat. Part of the "Nature's Microworlds" series.
Devils Tower is a flat-topped volcanic formation that looms more than 1,200 feet above Wyoming’s eastern plains and the Belle Fourche River. The geologic feature protrudes out of the rolling prairie that surrounds the Black Hills. The site is considered sacred to the Lakota and other tribes that have a connection to the area. Hundreds of parallel cracks make it one of the finest traditional crack climbing areas in North America.
The first in a series of five documentaries plots the course of the river, from its source to its delta. In a succession of spectacular images we see the extraordinary geographical route that the Mekong takes, from the Tibetan plateau, down the mountains of the Yunnan Province in China, then through the tropical valleys and virgin forests of Burma, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand before reaching the green plains of Vietnam. In the tropical forest, nature abounds with wild animal species, rare plants and flowers. In Laos', whole villages still pray to the Gods of Trees while in Thailand a hunter shows how the hunting of Asian elephants for preservation, now forbidden, was practiced. Series: The Soul of Southeast Asia
Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, Moko crosses the plains of Siberia and gets his first taste of the cold. After having found shelter in a cave for the night, he wakes to find a carpet of snow stretching out over the landscape as far as his eyes can see. Amazed at first, Moko realizes that he can no longer see his path and find his way. Could he have found the end of the world where distracted travelers get lost? At which point he notices footprints leading to a village.
