    Bohr diagrams of elements from groups 1, 14, 17 and 18, and periods 1, 2 and 3 are shown. Period 1, in which the 1n shell is filling, contains hydrogen and helium. Hydrogen, in group 1, has one valence electron. Helium, in group 18, has two valence electrons. The 1n shell holds a maximum of two electrons, so the shell is full and the electron configuration is stable. Period 2, in which the 2n shell is filling, contains lithium, carbon, fluorine, and neon. Lithium, in group 1, has 1 valence electron. Carbon, in group 14, has 4 valence electrons. Fluorine, in group 17, has 7 valence electrons. Neon, in group 18, has 8 valence electrons, a full octet. Period 3, in which the 3n shell is filling, contains sodium, silicon, chlorine, and argon. Sodium, in group 1, has 1 valence electron. Silicon, in group 14, has 4 valence electrons. Chlorine, in group 17, has 7 valence electrons. Argon, in group 18, has 8 valence electrons, a full octet.

    Access to safe drinking water is a global problem for nearly a billion people. For approximately 200 million people, many in Africa, high levels of naturally occurring fluoride in the water cause disfiguring and debilitating dental and skeletal disease. University of Oklahoma environmental scientist Laura Brunson is back from Ethiopia where, with support from the National Science Foundation, she’s developing fluoride filtering devices that use inexpensive materials readily available right there in the villages.

    Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, Moko bids farewell to Totemie. As promised, he gives Mei Li's stone and Alarick's flute. She in turn gives him a present that he may only open when he arrives at his destination. One morning, he sees the coast of his land after battling through a tornado! When he gets to shore, he opens Totemie's gift and finds not only her bracelet, but also Mei-Lei's stone and Alarick's flute and realizes that the greatest gift has been meeting his new friends.

    Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, it is night time and Moko is watching the shooting stars from Totemie's village and is remembering how he once thought that a lady blew the stars in the sky from the embers of her bonfire. And suddenly, an immense star, a huge ball of fire, appears from the sky and falls to the depths of the forest. Totemie and Moko take off to see where the meteorite has landed and discover that a huge flaming rock has made a hole the size of a volcano's crater in the ground and is setting fire to the forest around it. Totemie is scared that the sky is angry and Moko, who remembers Mei Li begins to dance like she did while playing Alarick's flute. It begins to rain and slowly the flames die down. Moko thinks that the clouds must have seen him dance and heard his flute and come to save his new friend's land.
