  • Illustration of a ring of islands surrounded by a thin line of sand and shallow water. Caption: They can only be found in warm seas.

Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, soaring over the desert, Moko and Totemie finally see the blue expanse of the ocean. Then a string of tiny islands covered in green and white. Fascinated by the view, they don't notice the wind picking up. As the wind gets stronger it shakes their kite and Totemie lets go, and Moko lets go as well so she won't fall alone. They fall into the water in a beautiful lagoon which they discover together, their courage rewarded.

  • Streaks of light from silver to light brown in an irregular pattern. Caption: One gene plays an important role for the hormone vasopressin.

At the twilight of an active life, Anna is now bedridden due to a serious fall. What makes the elderly--even those who are in full possession of their mental and physical faculties--more prone to falling than younger people? As this program demonstrates, the answer lies not in the body or the brain alone, but in their interconnection. Exploring Anna's past dreams of becoming a ballerina, the film shows how complex physical motion, such as dancing or even typing, requires sophisticated coordination between the body's neural, muscular, and skeletal systems. How aging affects such coordination and how new artificial limb technology enables movement are running themes in the program.

  • Illustration of an island breaking the water line with a larger volume of the island under water. Caption: These are called volcanic islands.

Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, the storm has passed and Moko's raft is approaching a new shore. He has never seen this white sand beach and wonders where he might be. Moko wanders off to find inhabitants of this new place. Along his route he passes plants with enormous leaves and at the other end of his path, the beach once again! How is this possible? What is the secret of this strange islandy? Night falls and Moko falls asleep convinced that he is the first traveler to discover the ocean's secret island.
