  • Illustration of water with a circular shape outlined beneath the surface. Caption: (narrator) Blue holes are deep, underwater wells.

Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, Moko wants to head off and tells Totemie that he must find the end of the world. But a fisherman tells them that no one will find what it is that they seek unless they have passed by the blue holes, or underwater cave. Moko doesn't understand but follows the path of a mysterious and immense blue hole in the middle of the ocean. This is when strange things begin happening. The sea is swirling and the sky changes color. Strange lights appear in front of their raft, then disappear. They get the impression that they are flying high above the ocean, then mysteriously they find themselves back on the beach. Moko remembers his first trip and thinks that this must be the heart of the ocean beating for his old friend.

Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, Moko wonders why the moon changes shape so often. Sometimes, when he sees the moon rising in the distance like the sun, he thinks that by walking towards the horizon he could get closer and find out more. That way he could even ask the moon itself. During his long walk towards the ever-receding horizon, Moko watches the moon constantly changing shape. Sometimes it's a crescent like a smile, sometimes a disc of light; sometimes it's white, sometimes yellowish. It travels across the sky but you can't see it moving. One night, Moko decides to watch the moon perform its lovely dance among the stars. He figures he'll never reach the horizon, and in fact maybe the moon just wants to put on a show, to be watched more often.

  • Illustration of a stream of water falling down the side of a mountain. Caption: Waterfalls are often stronger during spring,

Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, continuing their expedition, Moko and Totemie come across a great river. It is so beautiful and so wide that they decide to build a raft and explore it further. A woman who is returning from the fields warns them of a great danger, but it is too late, the current has already carried the raft along its waves. In the distance they can hear a deep rumbling sound, and it seems to be getting closer. As their raft is propelled forward, it is stopped by the edge of a reef just on the edge of a great chasm. The spectacle is so breathtaking that they forget their fear. When they finally manage to reach the shore safely, they thank the river for having kept them safe and having shown them the magnificent view of the waterfall.

Suddenly, it was as if their music was being accompanied by a strange singing. They decided to investigate the source of this strange new sound. Walking along a hilly path in the forest, they were surrounded by hundreds of tall rocks that stood like humans in the dusk. A gust of wind blew and they could once again hear the bizarre song. Frightened at first, Moko and Alarick decided that the rocks were singing as a choir and the joined them with their instruments. When the wind fell, they regained their boat, happy to have participated in the symphony of the singing stones who were probably lonely and wanted to attract visitors.

  • Rocket flying above Earth's atmosphere. Caption: and a liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen upper stage.

The concept of propulsive thrust to move objects over large distances is ancient. Yet, the technology to move an automobile forward or a rocket into space was invented less than two centuries ago. The invention of the solid fuel propulsion system combined with Newton's Third Law is the simplistic basis for modern rocketry. Students will review the history of propulsion and explore its use as a viable energy source of the future.

He walks toward the rainbow, but the closer he gets, the more the colors disappear. Disappointed, he heads back home... and the rainbow reappears in the distance. He asks the village wise man how he could take a few colors from the rainbow and make a gift of them to a friend. The wise man tells him it would be better to ask his friend to come look at the beauty of the colors with him. A sodium and a chlorine atom sit side by side. The sodium atom has one valence electron, and the chlorine atom has seven. Six of chlorines electrons form pairs at the top, bottom and right sides of the valence shell. The seventh electron sits alone on the left side. The sodium atom transfers its valence electron to chlorines valence shell, where it pairs with the unpaired left electron. An arrow indicates a reaction takes place. After the reaction takes place, the sodium becomes a cation with a charge of plus one and an empty valence shell, while the chlorine becomes an anion with a charge of minus one and a full valence shell containing eight electrons.

  • Illustration of a mountain with snow on the peak starting to melt down one side of the mountain. Caption: Some floods are triggered by mountain snows melting

Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, Moko and Mei-Lei are gathering seashells in between the rocks on the white sand beach to decorate the village's houses. Moko asks Mei-Lei if they can go to other beaches to try to find other shells. Mei-Lei likes the idea and goes to ask a fisherman to take them to another beach on his boat. Just beyond the village Moko sees a vast plain that has been flooded with water. He thinks this must have been the great wave, flooding the field with water so that the rice would grow. This is when Mei-Lei picks up a magnificent seashell and Moko believes that it must surely be a gift from the ocean. Moko and Mei-Lei make their way back home, carrying their gift and happy to have seen wonderful new places. They are certain that the ocean must know an underground passage in which it sends waves every now and then to feed the rivers and the fields.
